Rev. William Elmer Theaker, age 81, of Mattawan, passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022 at his home.


He was born in Wolverine, MI, on October 7, 1940, the son of  the late William Theaker and Freida Marie (Briggs) Theaker.


Bill spent his life devoted to serving his Lord and Savior. Over the course of his career he touched the lives of countless families and individuals through his ministry. After 47 years of ministry, the last 20 with Valley View Bible Church in Kalamazoo, Bill and his wife Mary retired. He received his Bible training for ministry from Midwestern Baptist College from which he graduated in 1965.  He earned the degree of Doctor of Divinity from the International Bible Institute and Seminary in1980. He graduated with his doctorate in Christian Education while serving in the civil air patrol. This was an accredited college of the United States Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol, located at Wright Patterson Air Force base in Ohio.


On July 8, 1961, he was united in marriage to Mary Theaker who preceded him in death January 5, 2015, after 53 years of marriage. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Alton) Laupp of Paw Paw; his son, Philip (Virginia) Theaker of White Lake, eight granchildren, seven great-grandchildren and his two sisters, Ann Latusek and Florence England. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Melanie DeVolder and his brothers, Raymond, Charles, Thomas and Orville Theaker.
Family and friends will visit on Saturday, September 10, 2022, beginning at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw, where a celebration of life will commence at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. B.J. Luce officiating. Immediately following services, there will be a luncheon held at the funeral home. Interment will take place Sunday at the Silver Lake Cemetery, Wolverine.
