1933 – 2021

Wilhelmina (Willie), also known as Yaya, passed away at Bronson Commons Nursing Home in Mattawan, MI, on February 1, 2021.  Willie was the daughter of Marinus and Grace DeZoete.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard, her sister, Leona, and her daughter, Pamela.  Willie is survived by her granddaughter, Michele, her brother Robert, and her sister Judith.  She was happily married for 47 years to Thomas Kostakis who passed away in 2007.  Both of them together owned successful restaurants, starting with the Expressway Inn located in Mattawan, MI.  Willie retired from the restaurant industry and became an employee at UpJohns in Kalamazoo, MI.  She really enjoyed her work and made many friends along the way before she retired.  In her spare time, she loved to travel, watched murder mysteries on television, and most importantly, spent time with family and friends.  Willie was quite a character at times, always making jokes and making people laugh.  She will truly be missed by everyone.  In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  A memorial service will be held at a later date.  Donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in helping with research or donate to a charity of your choice.
