Passed away Sunday December 4, 2011 at her home. Uva was born in Elkhart, IN, the daughter of the late Paul Bushong and Hazel B. (Rowe) Bushong. She worked at the Studebaker Automobile Company during WWII. Uva cherished her family and was called "Grandma" by everyone and was known for her great wit and humor, even until her death. She was an avid reader and could always be found with a book in her hand. She also enjoyed politics and never missed an election. Uva was an amazing cook and baker and "Grandma" also enjoyed her sweets. She was preceded in death by her husband, LaRue H. Wert and her daughter Sally E. Wert. Survived are her daughters, Shirley (Horace) Goodwin and Janice Wert, both of Paw Paw; son, Donald (Gayle) Wert of Colorado; six grandchildren, Cathy Goodwin, Gary Goodwin, Kelly (Randy) Block, Erin McCoy, Jeff (Maegan) Wert and Eric Sherman; five great-grandchildren, Tyler Block, Mitchell Goodwin, Tanner Block, Taegan Block and Henry Wert. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2011, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw, with funeral services at 1p.m. Reverend Tom Abbott, officiating. Internment will follow in Wildey Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to the Paw Paw District Library.
