Theodore A. Martin, 90, passed away March 7, 2020 at Park Village Pines in Kalamazoo. He was born June 7, 1929 in Chicago. His family moved to Paw Paw during WWII. While living in Paw Paw he was employed by Paw Paw Plating and participated in the local bowling and golf leagues. Years later he moved to Cornell Street in Portage where he resided as a GM employee. He was a member of St. Michael Lutheran Church in Portage, and also a volunteer of the local Meals on Wheels program for many years. Sports were a part of his interest, he never missed an update on the Tigers or Lions games. Golf Leagues were also on the agenda, playing at Oakland Hills and Crestview Golf Clubs over the years. Early in life he discovered his ability to oil paint and eventually became an artistic wood carver in his retirement, until his sight failed. He shared many of his works with the family. Ted was a dog lover at heart and especially loved his Misha whom stood out above them all. His later years were devoted to listening to bible study.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Sabatino and Paulina Martin, his wife of 62 years, Lois (Gardner) Martin on February 22, 2015. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Russell and Fred, sisters, Rose Hughes and Lenore Bentley. Ted is survived by his daughter, Karen (Bruce) Faul-Sielatycki of Kalamazoo, sister in law, Joyce Martin of Paw Paw, along with many nieces and nephews and his friend and caregiver, Deb, whom devoted her time for his care.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 14, 2020 beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave, Paw Paw, where a funeral service will commence at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Paul R. Naumann officiating. Private interment will take place at Hill Cemetery, Lawrence. Memorial contributions may be directed to Park Village Pines or to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
