Steven Kuchek was born in Midland, Michigan, on May 11, 1956, the son of the late Leonard and Phyllis (Price) Kuchek. He graduated from Bay City Western High School, class of 1975. Steve and his brother Roger decided to attend the Gemological Institute of America where they became Graduate Gemologists. He was very proud of more than a 30 year career in gemology, spending it at Siegel Jewelers until they closed the Westnedge Avenue location. When this change came about, Steve decided it was time to retire and focus on his parents' care, as their health was beginning to decline. At home in Paw Paw, Steve treasured his time spent with his beautiful grandchildren. As a family, they enjoyed many pontoon rides and great times on Eagle Lake during the summers. He was one that loved a good joke, and at times even had some that were kid appropriate.
Steve was known for his talent in the kitchen. No one would ever walk away hungry if Steve was cooking. His amazing culinary skills left everyone, including himself, spoiled. Aside from the kitchen, Steve tended his garden and had many sporting interests and activities throughout his life, including golf, bowling, pool, darts and fishing.
He lived his entire life with strong values of honesty, generosity and respect towards others. His truly amazing personality drew others to him. He loved meeting new faces and always looked out for what was in the best interest for those around him. His random acts of kindness were appreciated by many throughout the years.
