Stephen Wolownik, 83, of Spring Hill, Florida, died on March 31, 2014. He was born March 26, 1931, in Paw Paw, the son of Roman and Kathryn Wolownik. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Andrew Wolownik and Edward (Dolores) Wolownik, and sister, Stella (Jack) Crook. He is survived by his brother, Raymond (Barbara) Wolownik of Spring Hill, Florida, and his sister, Lillian (Richard) Miller, of Pensacola, Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
Steve graduated from Lawton High School in 1948, as salutatorian, then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving four years. He then attended Western Michigan College and Michigan State University, graduating with a degree in chemical engineering from M.S.U.
He was employed for 25 years by Abbott Laboratories in Waukegan, Illinois, as a chemical engineer, during which time he set up chemical processing systems for Abbott Labs in England, Italy, and Japan. He was credited with earning two patents for chemical processing procedures.
Family and friends will be received from 12 noon until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw, where a memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Fr. Joseph Xavier officiating. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery, Paw Paw. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the National Parkinson's Foundation or a charity of choice.
