Steve passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 12, 2012 at his home. He was born September 30, 1922 in Detroit, MI the son of the late Steve and Olga (Cividini) Tomac. Steve was employed by James River Corporation, as an electrician until his retirement and enjoyed agricultural farming in his spare time. He was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church, Mattawan, where he was very active and volunteered his time in building projects, ushering, Sunday collections, and many other church activities. His church spiritual family was very important to him. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #3798 and a Fourth Degree member of K of C Assembly #522, Paw Paw where he was named Knight of the Year. Steve enjoyed fishing with his friends, and traveling with his wife Sophie. On August 9, 1952 in Detroit, Steve was united in marriage to Sophie E. Stimac who preceded him in death on April 8, 2011. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Beatrice Donora. Surviving are a son, Stephen Tomac Jr. of Kalamazoo; daughter, Mary Ellen (John) Tomac-Scholari of Chelsea, MI; 2 grandchildren, Nathan Salisbury and Sean Tomac; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Family will receive friends Sunday 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where a Vigil Service will be held Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday 11 a.m. at St. John Bosco Catholic Church, Mattawan with Rev. Fr. Mathew Illikattil Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or charity of choice.
