Stephen James Erickson

Stephen James Erickson, 55, of Kalamazoo, passed away suddenly on Friday April 25, 2025, at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital in Battle Creek.

He was born May 6, 1969, in St. Joseph, Michigan, the son of Eric Erickson and Carole (Moore) Erickson.

Steve proudly served his country in the United States Army and went on to work at the Battle Creek VA office for many years. He had many hobbies, including working on and around his home, collecting beautiful artwork pieces and researching family genealogy. Steve loved his family and helping others. He would give anyone the shirt off his back. Steve was a gentle giant with a big heart who enjoyed pranking those around him when the opportunity arose. Steve will forever be remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Carole Erickson; siblings, Timothy Erickson, Joyce (Greg) Jensen and Julie Erickson; nephews, Eric Jensen and Max Erickson, one aunt, three uncles and many cousins.

Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Eric Erickson.

In accordance with family wishes, cremation will take place. Steve will be laid to rest at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date.

In his final act of service- Steve was able to be a tissue donor and because of this he will be able to help several people in need.
