Scott passed away Sunday evening, March 10, 2013 at his home with his family at his side after a battle with cancer. He was born September 13, 1948 in Kalamazoo, the son of William and Wilma (Wigginton) Matthies. Scott was a veteran serving with the U.S. Navy Seebees in Vietnam from 1969 to 1970. He was a self-employed owner of Vicksburg Auto Body retiring on January 1, of 2011. Scott was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 697 in South Haven, enjoyed wintering in Fort Myers, FL, traveling, boating on Lake Michigan, and building hot rods. He was a family oriented person who spent his spare time with his family and loved them very much. On February 12, 1972 in Battle Creek, Scott was united in marriage to Carol L. Crossman who survives. Also surviving are a son, Andy (Leslie) Matthies of Lawton; daughter, Allison (Jared) Taylor of Vicksburg; grandchildren, Jacob, Connor and Owen Matthies, and Sydney and Lincoln Taylor; father, William C. Matthies of Richland; 4 brothers: Steve (Barbie) Matthies of Grand Haven, Chris Matthies of Lawton, Eric (Nyen) Matthies of Gobles, and Mitchell (Sharon) Matthies of Lawton; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Matthies. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, March 22, 2013, 12 P.M. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan with Pastor James Dyke officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of choice. Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
