Sally Brunet lived a life that revolved around family. Her steadfast love for her children and grandchildren was no secret. She was always involved in her daughters' activities and never missed a sporting event. That support continued with her grandsons, where she was always the first to ask for schedules, details and directions. In addition, she held a strong bond with her nieces and nephews. Although Sally didn't often travel far from home, she would not hold back on a trip to visit family members. As devoted as she was to family, she was also a caring and devoted friend to many. Throughout her life, Sally developed many groups of special friends whom she stayed in close contact with. These included high school classmates, college roommates, previous coworkers, as well as all the friends she met through her involvement in clubs and organizations. These groups enjoyed meeting for dinner on a monthly basis to keep up to date with one another.
After 30 years of service to the Paw Paw Public Schools, as head bookkeeper, Sally retired on April 30 2006. In her retirement, one of her favorite places to relax was at the family cabin on Thunder Lake, where she continued to enjoy getaways to the cabin with her friends every summer. Everybody that knew Sally, knew that she kept busy and was always on the go. When asked to describe Sally, anyone that knew her would say she was always generous and consistently put others' needs before her own. Although Sally was not interested in sewing, cooking or baking as a hobby, she did enjoy treating her family and friends to baked goods and meals and always volunteered to sew a project for a friend or family member. She and her grandson's set time aside every Christmas to donate items to Eleanor's Pantry. She donated her time to the Habitat for Humanity, where she was the treasurer for the Van Buren County chapter for several years, she was part of a local investment group and enjoyed playing in her Bridge club. Many of Sally's hobbies that she enjoyed in her own time included her many puzzles, quilting, reading, playing brain games on her computer such as Solitaire, Sudoku, as well as card games like Hand and Foot. Sally had a passion for musicals, Lion King and Jersey Boys were her top favorites.
