A life-long resident of Lawrence, Ruth passed away Saturday morning, August 17, 2013 at White Oaks in Lawton after a sudden illness. She was born September 23, 1923 in Lawrence, MI the daughter of the late Grove and Gladys (Culver) Crawford. After graduation from Lawrence High School in 1941 she was employed for many years with a manufacturing company in Bangor, until she married and started a family. After marrying, she and her husband Gabe operated the Texaco station in Lawrence for many years. Ruth enjoyed sewing, quilting and embroidering and produced many beautiful baby quilts for family and friends. Ruth's favorite past time was spending time with her family, specifically her granddaughters. She lived her life helping and serving others, and was a volunteer for the Van Buren County Historical Society, the food bank, the Lawrence Alumni Association, and the Lawrence American Legion Auxiliary. On March 24, 1961 in Paw Paw, Ruth was united in marriage to Gabriel Reinertson who preceded her in death on November 18, 2003. She was also preceded in death by 8 siblings, Charles Moses, Opal Moses, Stuart Moses, Louise Lyons, Henry Crawford, Harold Crawford, Florence Kuilema and Lela Harrison. Surviving are a daughter, Mary (Todd) Weston of Kalamazoo; 2 granddaughters, Anne and Emily Weston of Kalamazoo; 2 sisters-in-law, Irma Crawford of Wayland and Jackie (Stan) Tinker of Paw Paw; many beloved nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Saturday, Sept. 7th, 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where a memorial service will be held at 12 noon. Interment of cremains will follow in Hill Cemetery, Lawrence. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan or the Great Lakes Burn Camp.
