Russell George Heinzen, 85, of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully Friday, May 10, 2024, at Rose Arbor in Kalamazoo.
He was born July 8, 1938, in Maple Plain, Minnesota, the son of Harvey Heinzen and Florence (Japs) Heinzen.
On June 29, 1997, he married the love of his life; Ruth Elizabeth (Allen) Heinzen who preceded in death February 9, 2022.
Also preceded in death were his parents; Harvey and Florence and his stepson; David Thell.
Russ is survived by two brothers; Howard Heinzen and Dennis (Lois) Heinzen, one sister; Darlene "Dee Dee" (George) DeLuca, two adopted daughters; Debra Hunter and Renee (Marty) Hedin, one step-son; Jeff (Jody) Loehrs, ten grandchildren; Candace (Dan) Brown, Charity (Dave) Pikkaraine, Phillip, Keri-Ann (Ryan), Candice, Christine, Shawnee Thell, Kyle Loehrs, Amanda (Nicholas) Dohrn, and Kennen Loehrs, fifteen great-grandchildren; Cameron Meyer, Cameron Hunter, Cedric Swanson, Reece Pikkaraine, Alexis Hunter, Justin Brown, Lucy Loehrs, Dakotah, Landon, Ryder, Hannah, Carter, Gracie, Aralynn, and Jake.
Russ was a dedicated over-the-road truck driver for 35 years. He always enjoyed reliving those days through many stories of his adventures with family and friends. In his later years, Russ kept active and busy tinkering with his many tools, fixing broken things and creating new things. Russ even loved summer yard work and winter snow clearing.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering on Sunday, May 26, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Berkshire Apartments, 308 E Michigan Avenue, Paw Paw.
A memorial open house will also be held in Minnesota where Russ will be reunited with Ruth at their final resting place on Saturday, June 22, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Maple Plain and Cremation Columbarium, 558 County Road 110, Maple Plain, MN 55359. Prayer and placement of the urn will take place at 2:30 p.m.
