Ross O. “Jack” Smith, age 91, of Mattawan, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on January 21, 2017. He was born to the late Carl and Alice (Wilke) Smith in Mattawan on October 21, 1925. He is survived by his children, Thomas (Chris) Smith, Suellen (Late Steve) Smith, Ronald Smith, Sally (Clarence) Miller, Randall (Teri) Smith and Sandy (Britt) Cross, 10 grandchildren, Mindy (Jeff), Matthew (Sarah), Jordan, Jackie (Matthew), Ryan, Tyler, Connor, Grant, Chase and Jacob. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Maryellen and brother, Tom O. Smith. Jack proudly served his country in the Army during WWII. He retired from the UpJohn Company after 35 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing as well as working in his yard. In his retirement, he and Maryellen enjoyed traveling in their motorhome to visit friends and family and to find warmer weather. Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave, Paw Paw, where a Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 500 Paw Paw, St, Paw Paw. Burial will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or to the American Legion McGowan-Johnson Post #68, Paw Paw.
