Robert E. Zdzinicki

Robert "Bob" Zdzinicki, 80 of Paw Paw, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on May 30, 2016; Memorial Day. Bob was born September 7th, 1935 in Chicago Illinois to Walter and Joanne Zdzinicki. He lived most of his life in Paw Paw Michigan where he married Sonia (Scamihorn-Rucinski) on December 30th, 1960. He spent his career in the public sector serving the community beginning in 1959 as a firefighter for the City of Kalamazoo. In 1982, when the Public Safety Dept. was formed he was cross trained as a public safety officer and eventually retired as a Kalamazoo Public Safety Lieutenant in charge of 70 officers. He became the police chief of Mattawan in 1987 and retired once again in 1996. He served in the USAF during the Korean War and remained active in the McGowan-Johnson Post No. 68 in Paw Paw, MI, where he served as Post Commander.Bob is survived by his children Joseph Rucinski, Michelle Diljak, Suzanne Glomski (John), Robert Zdzinicki (Jan), Tim Zdzinicki (Amber), and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Sonia in 2013 and daughter Mary Rucinski in 2007. Bob "Chief" enjoyed being outdoors, he loved to hunt, fish and play golf with his friends and family. In his retirement, he enjoyed making homemade wine and gardening. He loved being surrounded by family and friends and he could tell a great story with a laugh that was unforgettable. He made sure everyone went home with plenty of vegetables from his garden and a good bottle of wine. He loved music and would often entertain by playing the harmonica or accordion, he and his wife Sonia loved to dance the Polka. Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, June 3rd, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 502 W., Michigan Ave., Paw Paw. Funeral. services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, June 4th with Father Bob Creagan officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial Donations may be made in his honor to the American Legion; McGowan-Johnson Post. No. 68, Paw Paw.
