Robert passed away at home surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 13, 2012. Robert was born August 25, 1927 in Zelma, MO the son of the late Edward and Lillian (Morgan) Shirrell. He spent most of his life as a cheese maker and his passion in life was gardening. He was a long time member and very active with the First Baptist Church in Lawton. Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife of over 40 years, Mary June Shirrell in 1995; daughter, Margaret Shirrell and 2 brothers. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Joe Hansen; grandson, Robert Mengel; granddaughter, Ruth Ann Shirrill; 3 great granddaughters; brothers, Jacob Shirrell and Tom Brewer; sister, Wanda Shirrell; several nieces and nephews. Per his wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 31, 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Lawton. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
