Robert Alan (Bob) Shephard, 62, of Bloomingdale, Michigan passed away on June 21, 2015, peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends after a long hard battle with cancer. There will be no funeral as Bob had requested we celebrate his life with a pig roast, date and time to be determined. Notifications will be posted on his Paw Paw Custom Carving facebook page. Bob was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on October 23, 1952 to Charles and Anne (Gluchacki) Shephard. At the young age of around 16 he decided that building and repairing cars was his quest. He worked out of various garages and buildings until finally he had his own business, Shephard Body Shop in Gobles, Michigan. Throughout his life he also coached a women's softball team, and after selling his shop to semi-retire, he created Shephard Home Builders and Paw Paw Custom Carving. His craftsmanship, love and passion for woodworking was exemplary. He loved fishing and spent any spare moment doing just that. Preceded in death are his mother and father, sister Marsha, and brothers David and Chuck. Continuing his legacy are his wife Deborah (French) Shephard, two daughters, Michele (Rick) Coy of Vicksburg, MI, Carrie Conroy of Paw Paw, MI, son, David (Sarah) Shephard, and two granddaughters, Kaleigh and Karsyn, sister Lexie Shephard of Bloomingdale, and brothers Jim, Joe, Steve, and John Shephard, and many nieces and nephews. Robert had many, many friends that he called family. Come to the pig roast and bring your stories (fishing lies too) and photos to share.
In lieu of flowers or plants, we ask that donations be made to the Van Buren County Hospice.
