Robert Raymond Hagens, age 91, of Mattawan, passed away January 25, 2016. He was born November 5, 1924 in Loyal Wisconsin to the late William and Henrietta (Gerrits) Hagens. He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Hagens of Mattawan, MI, three sons; Michael of Vicksburg, MI, Dale (Barb) of Schoolcraft,MI, and Brian (Sue) of Colchester, VT, daughter, Donna (Mike) Sudek of Brownstown, MI, four stepdaughters; Sharon Phipps of Phoenix, AZ, Sharlene Yancey of Prescott, AZ, Rhonda Strobel of Colorado Springs, CO, and Linda (John) Piefer of Hobe Sound, FL, one stepson, Ernest Carlock of Clearwater FL, along with 24 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his five brothers; Norbert, Edward, Joseph, Lawrence, and Clarence Hagens and one sister, Lorena Czecholinski. Robert dedicated his life to a career in the Military. He began in the Army and then served in the Air Force. Following his retirement from the Air Force, Bob returned to work in Civil Service with a total of 35 years of service. He was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Mattawan, Knights of Columbus and the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. In his free time, Bob enjoyed woodworking, maintaining his garden and canning. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 W. Michigan Ave., Paw Paw. Mass of Christian burial will take place Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Bosco Catholic Church in Mattawan. Burial will follow at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
