Richard Lee Mills

Richard Lee Mills, 91, of Lawton, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 17, 2023, at his home.

He was born December 14, 1932, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, the son of Leland W. Mills and Lena Mae (Peekstok) Mills.

Richard lived his life surrounded by the people and hobbies he loved. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. After he was discharged, he dedicated many hard-working years to Kalamazoo Valley Community College as a maintenance man and to Parchment Paper Company in the shipping department. Richard was also a self-employed custom cabinet maker. He was a member of the St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the East Van Buren County Seniors. Richard also enjoyed hunting and fishing.

On September 1, 1951, at the Almena United Methodist Church, he married the love of his life; Helen (Shank) Mills who survives.

He is also survived by his four sons: Thomas (Wendy), Steven (Rebecca), Gregory (Denise) and Kevin (Deloris) Mills, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. brother; William (Bonnie) Mills and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his brother, James Mills.

Family and friends are invited to visit Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 63855 North M-40 Highway, Lawton where a memorial service will commence at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Shelia Baker officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to Centrica Care Navigators or to Saint Paul's United Methodist Church.
