Patricia Marie (Barkalow) Allen

Patricia Marie Allen, age 80, of Portage passed away, Thursday, July 25, 2019 with family at her side.  Pat was born August 15, 1938 in Battle Creek, MI the daughter of the late Lester and Pearl (King) Barkalow.  She graduated from Lawton High School as Salutatorian of the Class of 1957.  Pat was employed as a records clerk for 32 years and retired from Bronson Gastroenterology in 2012.  As a child she loved fishing on Huzzy Lake and horse riding with her friend Janet.  She also enjoyed quilting, camping up north in Kalkaska, traveling with family and friends, going to the casino and most of all enjoyed her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  On October 19, 1957 in Lawton Michigan she was united in marriage to the love of her life, John T. Allen who survives.  Also surviving are 2 children, Tammy (Todd) Riggs of Lawton, Michael J. Allen of Schoolcraft; grandchildren, Andrew (Jackie) Riggs of Niles, MI, Matthew (Erin) Riggs of Lawton, Amanda (Steve) Maring of Grant, MI, Stephanie (Joey) Bernard of Garner, NC and Trazelle (Jared) Tickner of Batesville, Arkansas; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Derick “Dick” (Linda) Barkalow of Lawton, and Walter “Bill” (Linda) Barkalow of Bluffton, SC, nieces and nephews.  Cremation has taken place and a life story gathering will be held on Tuesday, September 10th at the Rock at Big Fish Lake, Marcellus (Old Melvilles Tavern) from 3 to 7 p.m.  Interment of cremains will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery with Rev.
