Mary Ann Terry, of Paw Paw, Michigan passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017, after a courageous battle against cancer, with family by her side. She was born December 8, 1940 in Plainwell to the late Ferris and Juanita Baker. She attended Paw Paw High School, where she met the love of her life and future husband, Marlow. Mary Ann graduated high school in June 1958. She married her high school sweetheart on June 11, 1960, and became Mary Ann Terry. She and Marlow raised five children and were blessed with 10 grandchildren. A few of Mary Ann’s favorite things were to watch the sunsets in South Haven and lounge on her brother, Pat’s boat in Lake Michigan. She and Marlow enjoyed countless vacations and cruises, one of the best being their time in Hawaii, when she was in remission. She loved going to casinos, and also loved (and sometimes despised) watching the Detroit Tigers. It was like watching a comedy show, with her and Marlow yelling at the umpires on TV. She rarely missed a sporting event of her grandchildren, and was their biggest fan. Of all the things Mary Ann loved, it was her family that meant the most. Every holiday, birthday, or special moment was centered around Mary Ann. She made sure everyone knew she loved them, and right up to the end, was more concerned about her family over anything else. Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 57 years, Marlow Terry, their five children, Judy Israelson of Ohio, Scott Terry of Paw Paw, Debra Ritsema Stafford (Kevin) of Portage, Mike Terry of Paw Paw and Shannon McAnelly (Steve) of Paw Paw. Grandchildren, Blake and Brittany Darrow of Ohio, Ian Israelson of Ohio, Danielle and Dominic Ritsema of Portage, Alek and Jarad Terry of Paw Paw, Cody Small (fiancée Bailey Miller) of Allegan, Cassidy Small of Paw Paw and Sarah McAnelly of Paw Paw. Brothers, Patrick Baker of Mattawan, Roger (Joyce) Baker of Lawton. She was preceded in death by her brother Larry (Patricia) Baker of Paw Paw. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews, as well as her self-appointed son, Rocky Sherburn of Mattawan. She also had her "sister friends", the late Betty Hartman, late Gerry Vangalder and Gladys Thompson who survives. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 4, beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave, Paw Paw. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 5, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Mary Catholic Church, Paw Paw. Burial will follow at Saint Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mary Ann wished any memorial contributions be made to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
