Mary Lee Hinderliter

January 11, 1940 — March 6, 2015

Mary Lee Hinderliter, age 75, passed away Friday morning, March 6, 2015 in Kalamazoo. She was born January 11, 1940 in South Haven, MI the daughter of the late Michael R. and Leone (Lee) Listiak. She was a 1958 graduate of South Haven High School and received her B.A. in education from Western Michigan University. Mary had a long career teaching music in the Portage Public Schools before her retirement. She was a former member of the Kalamazoo Symphony and was organist for the First Presbyterian Church in Decatur. She enjoyed antiquing, cooking, and the outdoors; especially fishing, boating, and hunting. Surviving are three children, Kenneth Hinderliter of San Diego, CA, Katherine (Tim) Glasscock of Rockford, MI and Michael Hinderliter of Bonita Springs, FL ; granddaughter, Debra Hinderliter of San Diego, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Susan Barber. Family will receive friends Tuesday, (March 17th) from 6 to 8pm at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be made to the Michael Listiak Scholarship, School of Music, Western Michigan University.
