Marlene passed away Monday afternoon, February 11, 2013 at Bronson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lawton, MI. She was born Feb. 5, 1937 in Kalamazoo MI. the daughter of the late Andrew and Lena (Britten) Owen Sr. Marlene loved to play bingo and was a well know bowler in Kalamazoo averaging over 200 per game. Marlene was united in marriage to Marvin Glen VanOcker February 2, 1957 in Kalamazoo, who preceded her in death in 1970. She was also preceded in death by a son, Marvin VanOcker II and her brother, Paul Owen. She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly (Michael) Copenhaver of Mattawan; brother Andrew Owen Jr. of Portage; three sisters, Shirley (Bill) Myers of Tempe AZ, Sandra (Virgil) Cole of Kalamazoo, Barbara Owen of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Cara and Christina Copenhaver of Mattawan. Family will have an open house to receive friends at the Antwerp Township Activity Center, 24821 Front Avenue, Mattawan on Wednesday (2/13) from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Paw Paw Lions Club.
