Marla "Lee" Allen, 72, of Paw Paw, MI, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2020, after a long battle with Frontotemporal Dementia. She was born on June 12, 1947 in Harvard, IL, the daughter of Peter and Ina (Hoppersteadt) Allen.
Lee graduated from Waukegan High School and went on to the University of Illinois to study music. She loved music and singing. It was one of her many passions. Lee was also an animal lover; she trained therapy dogs and supported various humane organizations. She had such a kind heart, full of love, and wanting to help everyone she could reach. Lee was a long time Episcopalian and a member of St. Marks Episcopalian Church in Paw Paw. She retired from United Way of Lake County, Illinois, where she was very passionate about the work she did. It made a difference and she loved doing it.
Surviving is her friend, Rebecca Ann Crise and her entire St. Marks family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Petrina Rose Allen.
Services will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 412 Cedar St., on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11:00 am with Father Len Brinkmoeller officiating.
