Marie E. LaPine, age 81, of Paw Paw, passed away Saturday evening, January 23, 2016 at Maple Lake Assisted Living, Paw Paw with her family at her side. Marie was born January 5, 1935 in Paw Paw the daughter of the late George A. and Lillian M. (Lyster) Agate, Sr. A graduate of Paw Paw High School, Marie was a cosmetologist working out of her home and worked evenings at LaCantina Ristorante, Paw Paw for 17 years. She loved shopping and dressed fashionably, keeping up with the latest styles. She liked to travel and enjoyed many vacations. Jack and Marie lived in Phoenix, AZ, Oshtemo and Springhill, FL and most recently Kalamazoo but always considered Paw Paw their home. Marie always was cooking and baking for her family and friends but her real passion was playing golf. She had three holes in one and two of those were on the same day. On September 1, 1951 in Paw Paw, Marie was united in marriage to Jack L. LaPine who preceded her in death on July 27, 2008 after 57 wonderful years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by a brother Earl Agate and a sister, Armita Millek. Surviving are three sons, Michael (Lorie) of Paw Paw, Gary (Jan) of Mattawan, and Steven of Phoenix, AZ; seven grandchildren, Michael, Alexis, Annalyse, Cailey, Lee, Joshua, and Conner; two great grandchildren, Ashlyn and Belladonna; brother, George (Marty) Agate Jr. of Kalamazoo; sister-in-law, Gloria Agate of Kalamazoo; many nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, (Jan 30) 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw.
