Lowell passed away Saturday morning, July 13, 2013 at this home. He was born November 2, 1921 in Almena Township the son of the late Clyde and Lillie (Matson) Maxam. Lowell was a farmer in Oshtemo Township most of his life. On March 6, 1941 in Kalamazoo, Lowell was united in marriage to Margaret Ann (Rowe) Maxam who preceded him in death on March 14, 1995. He was also preceded in death by a son, David A. Maxam; 2 sisters, Evelyn Hilbert & Gladys Johnson. Surviving are three daughter, Janice Barbee of Newaygo, Lynne Jager of Kalamazoo and Karin Tarantino of Allegan; three sons, Dean Maxam of Almena, Lowell Maxam, Jr. and Douglas Maxam both of Kalamazoo; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; brother, Earl Maxam of Kalamazoo; sister, Carol Jean Mallory of Lawton; sister-in-law, Virginia Chapman and brother-in-law-Phill Rowe both of Otsego; many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2013, 11 a.m at West Oshtemo Cemetery, Oshtemo Township. Memorial contributions may be made to West Michigan Cancer Center, Kalamazoo. Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
