Lottie Offett Robinson, eldest daughter of the late Morton J and Lillie Offett, was born September 1, 1911 and departed this life on October 20, 2011 at the age of 100 years. Mrs. Robinson was educated in the public schools of Terre Haute, Indiana and received her Bachelor of Science, Masters and a sixth year "Rank I" degree from Indiana State University. She taught two years in the Terre Haute, Indiana school system and thirty six years in the Elizabethtown City Schools before her retirement in 1982.
In 1932 she was married to John Vernon Robinson who became a teacher and principal in the Elizabethtown City Schools in 1935. To this union two sons were born; John Vernon (Jeanie) Robinson, Jr. and Franklin Garnett (Mabel) Robinson. At an early age she joined Second Baptist Church in Terri Haute and began serving as the church organist at the age of twelve. This and other church activities she continued until she moved to Elizabethtown, KY with her husband John. There, she joined the First Baptist Church and many other community activities. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Jolly Matrons Club, Better Homes Club and other civic organizations. She was author of "The Bond Washington Story" which documented the education of Black people in Elizabethtown and Hardin County. Her play "Through the Years with First Baptist" will also be remembered.
Mrs. Robinson was loved by many for her bright, effervescent personality, her willingness to lend a hand to anyone in need and for her dedication to her profession. She was very talented in music and dance, and those talents were used to brighten many lives. She leaves to mourn her passing, one devoted son and daughter in law, Franklin and Mabel Robinson of Paw Paw, MI; 3 granddaughters, Deborah, Karen and Rhonda; 3 grandsons, Charles, John III and Curtis; 9 great grandchildren and 11 great- great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were here husband, 1 son and 2 grandchildren, Loren and Carol.
Friends may join the family for funeral services on Monday, October 24 at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw, MI at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Michael Brown officiating. Additional services will be in her hometown of Elizabethtown, KY at a later date where interment will also take place. Memorial contributions may be made to Borgess Hospice and Visiting Nurses.
