Lois was born in Hammond, Indiana on June 5, 1945, and was a resident of Hammond, Gary, and Munster for her entire life. She graduated from St. Paul's Lutheran School in 1959 and from Hammond High School in 1963. She worked at the Main Branch of the Hammond Public Library during high school and, after attending the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Fort Wayne, Indiana for one semester, she was employed as the secretary and office manager at E. C. Schumacher Company in Lansing, Illinois from 1963 to 1973 and as the Assistant to the Purchasing Agent at Community Hospital in Munster, Indiana from 1973 to 1975. Lois was baptized, confirmed, and married at St. Paul's Ev. Lutheran Church where she
was a lifetime member except for the six years, 1973 through 1979, when she and her husband were members of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Portage, Indiana. Since 1975, Lois did not work outside the home, but she devoted her life to making a Christian home for her husband and her sons. Lois was thankful for the blessings God showered upon her every day of her life, and her utmost desire in life was for every one to believe in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. Lois died with the great anticipation of seeing Jesus face-to-face, of a blessed reunion in heaven with her parents, her sister, and with the many other loved ones who had departed this world in faith before her, and of finally being whole and healed from the mixed connective tissue disease which she battled since 1989.Lois fulfilled God's purpose for her life on this earth by quietly serving others in every possible way. She loved to read, write long letters to her relatives and lifelong friends, type, do projects on her computer, make floral arrangements and wreaths from silk flowers, and to serve the Lord through a card ministry. She loved genealogy, and she made many, many albums of photographs and other memorabilia that preserved the ongoing history from both sides of her and her husband's family as well as writing an illustrated book on the history of The Sellers Family.
In lieu of flowers, Lois requested that memorial contributions be made to the Waldemar H. Beckmann Scholarship Fund that was named in memory of her father who served St. Paul's Lutheran School for 42 years as a teacher and as its principal. Memorial may be sent to, St. Paul's Lutheran School, 8601 Harrison Avenue, Munster, Indiana 46321.
