Liberta G. Rogers, age 83, passed away Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 at her home. She was born October 30, 1931 in Edgewood Arsenal, MD the daughter of the late Air Force Major (retired) Bert M. Dumas, Sr. and Anna (Leidig) Dumas. Berta was a graduate of Western Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree in Education and taught second grade in the Lawton Schools until her retirement in 1994. During the summer months Berta lived on a grape farm in Lawton collecting grape memorabilia for her home and wintered in Bradenton, FL where she collected flamingos. Besides her passion for teaching she enjoyed reading, cooking and playing bridge, but most of all she enjoyed her family, never missing an opportunity to see her great granddaughter. On November 23, 1955 in Tampa, FL, Berta was united in marriage to Robert Rogers who preceded her in death in 1995. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bert Dumas, Jr. Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Rogers of Angola, IN; son, Glenn (Sandy) Rogers of Lawton; two grandchildren, Holly (Roberto) Rios and Heather Rogers both of Lawton; great granddaughter, Elisa Rios of Lawton; sister, Betty Dumas of Tampa, FL. Family will receive friends, Saturday, Feb. 21st 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where a memorial service will be held following visitation at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan or the Lawton Public Library.
