Leslie McFadden passed away at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI, on September 12, 2019, at the age of 62. Leslie was born on April 3, 1957, in Paw Paw, MI, to William and Virginia (White) McFadden, and was the youngest of four siblings. She is preceded in death by both parents and her sister Olive (Randy) McGuire. She is survived by her sister Virginia (Robert) McFadden-Spicher, brother William (Nancy) McFadden, son Lauren Cole and daughter Jesse Cole. She is also survived by two well-loved young grandchildren. She was a member of the Lawton High School class of 1975, where she found her lifelong passion for art and music. From her time as a professional drummer in the 1970s to the years she spent traveling to craft festivals to sell handmade clothes and jewelry, to the decades she spent as a seamstress working on aircraft interiors and racing accessories, she was a skilled and hard worker all her life. In 2017, Leslie was diagnosed with lung cancer, and she spent the next years fighting for her life. At the time of her unexpected passing, her cancer had advanced to stage four.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Leslie on Sunday, November 17th, 2019 from 1 pm - 5 pm at Lauren's home, located at 418 Washington Street, Lawton, MI 49065. Guests are free to come and go, with tributes planned to start at 4 pm for people who wish to speak. Friends and family are encouraged to attend to honor and celebrate Leslie's life.
