CLIPPINGER, Leroy Fulton

Mr. Clippinger, age 90, of Charlotte passed away April 1, 2013 at Transitional Health Care in Kannapolis. He was born April 7, 1922 in Charlotte, North Carolina the son of the late Richard Leroy Clippinger and Oreine Covington Reynolds. Leroy proudly served his country in the Navy Air Corps during WWII and later became a mail carrier for the US Postal System for 36 years. He attended NC State and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Charlotte. Mr. Clippinger was active and enjoyed the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Senior Games where he participated in such events as Field and Track, cycling and running. Surviving are his four sons, Christopher K. (Beth) Clippinger, Steven Gregory (Dawn) Clippinger, Mark Philips (Elise) Clippinger, and Michael Leroy Clippinger; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Virginia Rayman of Allegan, Marian Paro of Schoolcraft, Lois West of Stuttgart, AR, Dorothy Trautman of Kalamazoo, and Laura Sirrine of Mattawan; three brothers, Frank Leroy Clippinger of Portage, Henry Clippinger of Kalamazoo, and Robert E. Miller of Safety Harbor, FL; many nieces and nephews. Leroy was preceded in death by two sisters Vivian Annette Smith and Oriene Pleyte and one brother Patrick R. Clippinger. A private graveside service was held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at Evergreen City Cemetery, Charlotte, North Carolina.
