LaVon Roth

LaVon passed away Wednesday morning, November 20, 2013 at Bronson Commons in Mattawan. She was born January 12, 1925 in Girard, Kansas, the daughter of Rudy and Fern (Francq) Grudnik. LaVon was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Paw Paw for 55 years, and was a secretary for Van Buren County Mental Health. She was an accomplished keyboardist, playing both piano and organ, and sang in the church choir. She was also gifted with a green thumb growing beautiful flower and vegetable gardens each year.
On March 16, 1984 in Hawaii, she was united in marriage to her husband Sydney Roth, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Larry (Brenda) Shaefer of Paw Paw, Bob (Patti) Shaefer of Golden Valley, AZ and Scott (Joanne) Shaefer of Paw Paw; grandchildren, Tara Wheeler, Brent (Julie), Natalie and Audrey Shaefer; four great grandchildren, Charlie and Ella Wheeler and Andrew and Stella Shaefer; two step-children and two step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and first husband Bob Shaefer in 1976.
Cremation has taken place. Private committal services will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Paw Paw. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
