Kerney Cecil Patrick III

Kerney Cecil Patrick III, 66, of Mattawan, died at home surrounded by his family on November 25, 2023.

He was born in Houston, Texas in 1957, the son of Kerney and Glenys (Goldston) Patrick. He moved around a lot due to his dad being in the Coast Guard. He found the love of his life, Claire Remond, at the subdivision pool during his freshman year of college. She was a lifeguard at the pool, and he lived in the subdivision. They went on to get married and have two children.

During his married life, Kerney lived in Louisiana, Virginia and Michigan, where he enjoyed all four seasons. He enjoyed watching football, especially the Green Bay Packers and the Saints. He also loved to camp on the Blue Ridge Parkway and take trips with his family.

Kerney was known for his love of family, choosing to be surrounded by family by living with his daughter, son-in-law and their two children, along with his wife. He was his happiest when his children and grandchildren were all under one roof. His last year was special, as his son was able to move closer to home, moving from Virginia to Ohio and visiting almost every weekend. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and watch them play and laugh.

He is survived by his mother; Glenys Patrick, loving wife; Claire Patrick, son; Jason Patrick, daughter; Erin (Besart) Mani, sister; Renee Leavens, grandson; Harrison Mani and granddaughter; Vanessa Mani.

Kerney was preceded in death by his father; Kerney Patrick Jr. and sister; Vanessa Johnson.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 701 Pine St, Paw Paw, where a memorial service will commence at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor. Phillip Phifer officiating. Fellowship will follow immediately after.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or to Harrison and Vanessa Mani's college fund.
