Kay Joan Bush was born June 18, 1941 to Harry L. Bush and Mildred A. (Thomas) Bush. She passed from this life on March 10, 2021 at Bronson Commons, Mattawan, MI. A joyful celebration of Kay's life will be held this summer. Kay graduated Paw Paw High School. She went on to Western Michigan University for her bachelor and master's degrees. While she was in undergrad school she studied abroad and then went on a memorable trip in Europe with other members of Western Michigan University. She shared that trip with the family back home through delightful expressive letters. Kay became a fifth grade teacher in the Paw Paw elementary school system. She was a wonderful teacher and loved her work with the students. While visiting her in the classroom she told a sister “if I have made any difference in this life it is here in this room”. Sadly serious health issues cut short her teaching career. She longed for that part of her life to return but it was not to be. She spent the many long years she lived in the love of her family. She was a devoted daughter, granddaughter and niece, as well as a wonderful aunt to her nieces and nephews. They remember with great fondness the many books she read to them and the movies she took them to see. Her sisters have memories of fun times spent with her at the farm of their grandparents and the family cabin in northern Michigan. She had friends of many years duration and shared good memories with them. The last twenty plus years of her life were spent in the loving care of Sally and Dave Parker and then at Bronson Commons.
She is survived by sisters Ann (Terry) Blakely of Fife Lake, MI; Linda Burley of Saugatuck MI; Julie (Larry) Phillips of Mattawan, MI. Nephews Terry (LeeAnn) Blakely of St Johns, MI, Chris (Ann) Blakely of Warren, MI and Jorge Castro of New York City, NY. Nieces Teresa (Tim) Reese of Oakland, MI; Angela Carrion of Saugatuck,MI; Amanda Pollack of Saugatuck, MI plus great and great-great nephews and nieces. Also Aunt, Anita Thomas of Lawrence, as well as cousins. Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Harry L. Bush and Mildred A. (Thomas) Bush and her sister Sarah Bush.
