Kathleen C. Arndt, age 80 of Kalamazoo, formerly of Paw Paw, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family on June 14, 2021. She was born February 20, 1941, in Villa Park, Illinois, the daughter of Homer “Mac” and Virginia (Brand) Combes. Kathy was a 1959 graduate of York High School. In 1961, Kathy married Eugene Brooks and they settled in California, where they had their five children. Later the family relocated to Michigan, in 1972. Kathy was a data control supervisor for Consumers Energy and retired as the Human Resource Administrative Services Supervisor. Later she worked as a bookkeeper for Moses Fire. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish, where she sang in the choir. She also was on the St. Mary’s School Board Advisory Committee. Kathy was active with the Paw Paw Players and the Women’s Library Guild. On July 28, 2014, Kathy married Raymond Arndt and they shared several wonderful years together. Her family includes her husband Ray Arndt; her children: Robin (Robert) Farrell, Virginia Parnell, and Tim (Leila Sehat) Brooks; her grandchildren: Ian, Meg and Conor Farrell, Sean Brooks, Jon (Nicole) Clairmont, Zak, Josh, and Dalton Brooks, Elliot and Amelia Brooks, and Chloe, Lucy, Sophie, and Millie Trosper; one great-grandchild; her daughter-in-law Lynn Brooks and her son-in-law Doug Trosper; her step-children: Todd (Nancy) Arndt, Debra (Daryl) DeVries, and Tamara (William) Schafhauser; her six step-grandchildren and two great-step-grandchildren; her siblings: James (Joanne) Peppiatt-Combes, Patricia Adkinson, Mickey (Bart) Enright, and Tom (Peggy) Combes; and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her children, Tony Brooks (2017), Amy Trosper (2015) and her husband, Eugene Brooks (2008). The family will receive family and friends on Friday, June 18, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour before the service at St Mary's Catholic Church, 500 East Paw Paw Street, Paw Paw, MI 49079, with Fr. Joseph Xavier, msfs, presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to West Michigan Cancer Center or Hospice Care of SW Michigan.
