Katelyn passed away on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo after a courageous battle with cancer. Katelyn was born January 8, 1989 in Kalamazoo, MI the daughter of Joseph DePierre and Delora Rupe. After graduating from Paw Paw High School in 2007, she went on to attend the Everest Institute. Katelyn enjoyed softball, basketball and skate boarding. She also enjoyed working on cars and cooking, especially the family cook-offs. Katelyn adored her dog Zoe and loved spending time with her brother and sister. Surviving are her father, Joseph (Amy Shirah) DePierre; mother, Delora (Richard) Rupe; sister, Kelsey Miller; brother, Dakotah DePierre; grandmothers, Josephine Zantello, Beverly Page, Lynn Shirah and Dorothy Floyd; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; best friend, Kelsey Baker. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Donald Zantello and Jack DePierre; step-grandfather, Sam Page and uncle, Bill DePierre. Family will receive friends on Sunday (10/21) from 1-4 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw, where funeral services will take place on Monday, 11:00 a.m., Pastor Randy Hatfield officiating. Private interment will take place at Arlington Cemetery, Bangor, where she will be buried with her grandfather. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the West Michigan Cancer Center. Immediately following the funeral service, the family has invited everyone to share in a time of fellowship at the Paw Paw United Methodist Church where a luncheon will be served.
