Jules passed away peacefully, Thursday morning, November 22, 2012 at his home. He was born June 25, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois the son of the late Jules M. Serbenski, Sr. and Jean (Sarno) Serbenski. Jules moved to Michigan at the age of 8, farm raised, graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in 1949 and Paw Paw High School in 1953. He married his high school sweetheart, Lorraine Adams in 1958 and lived on 52nd Avenue for 52 years. Surviving are his wife, Lorraine and 3 children, Juliet (Jon) Ridgway of Bloomingdale, Jason Serbenski of Bloomingdale, and Adam (Carmen) Serbenski of Deerfield Beach, FL; grandson, Sergio Serbenski of Deerfield Beach, FL; brother, Jan (Dorene) Serbenski of Paw Paw; sister, Judi (Edi) Borrello of Paw Paw; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Bruner. Jules served in the U.S. Army in Korea in 1958 in administration, with Top Secret Clearance and was responsible for KATUSAS (Korean Auxiliary to U.S. Army) construction Units. He entered the Financial Services in 1960, became Regional Manager for a large insurance company in 1983, retiring in 2005. He and Loraine traveled throughout the states and Jules had the opportunity to speak at Agencies in 22 states. He was published in industry and company publications. In the early 1960's, he was a charter member of the Paw Paw JC's and chairman of the Grape festival in that era. He is Past President of the Michigan State Association of Life Underwriters, S.W. Michigan General Agents and Managers, Kalamazoo Association of Life Underwriters and Bloomingdale Area Improvement Club. He is a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw Conservation Club, NRA and American Legion, Decatur Post. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved the outdoors and his outdoor friends. Times he especially enjoyed were dancing with Lorraine, playing the piano, the accordion, gardening and remembering the days with 4-H kids. A memorial service will be held Saturday (12/1) 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw with Rev. Fr. Joseph Xavier officiating. A luncheon and visitation with the family will follow the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or The Kalamazoo Gospel Mission. Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
