Judith Porter Ferguson, Age 65, passed away Tuesday morning, November 18, 2014 at her home. She was born April 27, 1949 in Columbus, Ohio the daughter of the late Rev Phil and Joan (Peabody) Porter, Jr. Judy was a graduate of Ethel Walker High School in Simsbury, CT; University of Colorado with a B.A and Western Michigan University with a B.S. degree. She taught math at North Hills Classical Academy in Grand Rapids, MI until 2005. She was also a tutor for SLD students. Judy was a water color artist and enjoyed sewing, embroidering, quilting and most of all her grandchildren. A wife of noble character, Proverbs 31:10-11, (10Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies 11The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.) on August 24, 1985 in Kalamazoo, Judy was united in marriage to Neal Harvey Ferguson who survives. Also surviving are two daughter, Ruth Ferguson of Grand Rapids, MI and Sarah (Andrew) Miller of Dorr, MI; two granddaughters: Adeline Grace Miller and Chloe Isabelle Miller both of Dorr, MI; brother, Dr. Andrew Porter of Livermore, CA; two sisters, Dr. Margot Miller of Easton, MD and Carol (Kent) Smith of Saratoga, WY; two brothers-in-law, Norman (Janice) Ferguson of St. Joseph, MI and Martin (Minerva) Ferguson of Grand Rapids, MI; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Friday evening, (11/21) 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw and Saturday morning 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Newberg, Jones, MI with Pastor David Woodman officiating. Interment to follow in Poe Cemetery, Jones, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan or Passion for the Poor International, P.O. 3914, Shreveport, LA 71133.
