Josephine Antoinette Minarik, age 105, passed away October 23, 2016. She was born March 20, 1911 to Stephen and Antoinette (Sadecky) Minarik in Cicero, Illinois. She moved with her family to Paw Paw, MI in 1920 to the family farm. The farm is still in the family. She helped her mother raise 9 siblings and run the farm while her dad worked weekdays in Chicago. After graduating from Paw Paw High School, she moved to Cicero where she worked as a stenographer. After 20 years she moved to Battle Creek and lived with her brother until she was 99. Since then, she has lived at Medilodge of Kalamazoo. Josephine enjoyed nature, especially flowers. Surviving is her youngest sister, Alice Stieber of Kalamazoo. Preceding her in death are her parents, brothers and sisters (and their spouses): Stephen Minarik; Joseph (Adeline) Minarik; Andrew Minarik; John (Eleanor) Minarik; Anne (Kenneth) Stanton; Mildred (Mark) Javor; Antoinette (Duwayne) Rice; Margaret (Adam) Wojciechowski; and Brother-in-law Roman Stieber. Two brothers, George and Rudy died in childhood. Josephine leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Also a dear neighbor; the Steve Franklin Family. Visitation will be held Friday, October 28, 2016 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Paw Paw. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Joseph Xavier officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to St. Mary Church or to the charity of your choice.
