John F. Stack

John passed away Friday, January 10, 2014 at his home. He was born March 25, 1923 in Chicago, the son of Paul and Margaret (Hellgeth) Stack. John was a trained pilot, navigator and tailgunner serving in the European Theater, 8th Army Air Force in World War II. He attended Western Michigan University and became a Registered Land Surveyor/Civil Engineer in the State of Michigan in November, 1958. After his parents passed away, he and Jeanine took over the operation of the Lakeside Inn, Paw Paw, which has been in the family over 70 years. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Michigan Society of Registered Land Surveyors, the Optimist Club and was a master woodworker, carver, exceptional draftsman and talented artist.
On August 26, 1950 in Paw Paw, John was united in marriage to Jeanine D. Mucha, who preceded him in death August 16, 2013. He is survived by his brother, Paul J. Stack of Hastings; a son, Michael (Carol) Stack of Covington, LA; four daughters, Lenore Orozco of Lawton, Kathy Skrocki of Paw Paw, Nancy (Andy) Norval of Covington, LA, and Lisa Stack of Paw Paw; seven grandchildren, Aaron (Ashley) Skrocki, Jessica Yeoman, Daniel Orozco, Nathan Orozco, Carrie Ann Norval, Amy Norval and Derek Carlson; four great grandchildren, Josette, Merrik, Eve and Andreas. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother, June; two sisters, Margaret and Sr. Mary Vita (Lenore) Stack.
Family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw, where a Rosary will be held at 7:30. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw, Rev. Fr. Robert Creagan , celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Paw Paw, with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
