John Owsiany

May 10, 1930 — November 24, 2017

John A. Owsiany age 87, passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at his home with his family at his side. John was born in Paw Paw on May 10, 1930, The son of Frank and Sophia (Kalamuski) Owsiany. John honorably served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.  John was united in marriage to Therese Elias on August 6,1955 at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Paw Paw, Michigan. They resided in Mattawan where he built their home and helped raise their 4 children.  John worked for Consumers Power Morrow plant in Comstock, transferring to Palisades Plant in South Haven, Michigan, where he retired after 35 loyal years. He was a long-time member of the Paw Paw American Legion. John was a very hard worker and dedicated family man. He enjoyed keeping busy from chopping wood to tinkering in his garage. John took pride in his yearly vegetable gardens, canning projects and amazing flower gardens. After retirement John discovered garage sales and mastered the art in finding amazing treasures. He could always be found with a cup of black coffee and always ready to offer a helping hand.  Most of all John loved his family and home and enjoyed spending time with "the wife" and his cherished children and grandchildren.

John is survived by his loving wife of 62 years; Therese, 4 children: Michael (Lauri) Owsiany, Michelle Williams, Ray (Dawn) Owsiany and Shawn (Glenn) Owsiany, 9 Grandchildren: 10 great-grandchildren: sister in-law: Virginia Owsiany, and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters: Stan, Walt, Ted, Beatrice, Rudy, Ann (Lambert) and Mary.

Visitation will take place for family and friends Friday, December 1, 2017 @ 2:00 pm at Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw, Michigan. Followed by A Celebration of Life Service for John at 3:00 pm. Father Joseph Xavier will officiate the service. Committal Service to follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors to conclude the services.  Those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider Southwest Michigan Hospice.
