John passed away Friday morning, October 25, 2013 at his home. He was born April 4, 1934 in Brighton, England the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Hoddinott) Moriarty. John came to America at the age of 16 and was a graduate of St. Philip High School in 1950. He entered the Army U.S. Army during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge. He was employed as an installation technician of telephone equipment in the central office of Bell Telephone and retired in 1982. He was a member of the Pioneers' of Alcatel Lucent helping needy children. He was an avid sports fan and played semi-pro soccer in England and the U.S. He enjoyed golfing, yard work and was a loving husband, grandfather and great grandfather. On May 11, 1963 in Battle Creek, John was united in marriage to Shirley Mae Hainer who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Denise (Alan) Lenox of Kalamazoo, Michelle (Frank) Loedeman of Kalamazoo, Colette Calame of Oklahoma City, OK and Michael (Lisa) Moriarty of Grand Junction; 9 grandchildren, Neil, Danielle, Aaron, Ian, Kailee, Caleb, Luke, Noah and Grace; 3 great grandchildren, Luke, Abby and Mamoun. There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Monday 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery, Battle Creek where interment will follow the services. Memorial contributions may be made to Sierra Club save the Wolves Foundation. Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
