Joe passed away Saturday afternoon, September 10, 2011 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo. He was born November 5, 1942 in Indianapolis, IN the son of the late Joseph Cecil and Myrtle Christine (Dunn) Mayo. Joe and his family moved to Paw Paw in 1988 where he operated a Prudential Insurance Agency until his retirement in 2000. He served on the Waverly Township Planning Commission and was a member of the Paw Paw-Lawton Lodge #25 F&AM and the Shriners Club Saladin Temple, Kalamazoo. Joe enjoyed traveling, antique cars especially his 1941 Olds and collecting gas pumps (Petrobelia). On December 5, 1980 in Lafayette, IN Joe was united in marriage to Michelle Marie Sabo who survives. Also surviving are three children, Matthew Douglas Mayo of Pendleton, IN, Anne Kathleen Mayo of Danville, IN and Michael Joseph (Jessica) Mayo of Paw Paw; granddaughter, Rowan Michelle Mayo; grandson, Nolan Michael Mayo. Family will receive friends Wednesday, 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw where a Masonic Memorial Service will be held Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. under the auspices of the Paw Paw-Lawton Lodge #25 F&AM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Abbott officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southwest Michigan.
