Passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014 in Bronson LakeView Hospital, Paw Paw. Joan Marie Deneen Collins was born Nov. 11, 1928, the daughter of Charles and Josephine Deneen. An Irish Catholic dedicated Christian with New York roots and dedicated to community involvement and strong family values. Raised in Olean, New York, Joan had a competitive nature, definitely a super fan of Notre Dame Football. She was the go to person when prayers and problems needed attention and committed to many charities throughout the world. Family values, phenomenal friends, card playing marathons and charities were her life passions. She supported and took great pride in the accomplishments of her grandchildren. Joan was a vibrant social person who loved to be around people. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw. On July 25, 1950 in Olean, NY, Joan was united in marriage to John N. "Jack" Collins who preceded her in death on October 30, 2005. She was also preceded in death by her son, John T. Collins; her parents; siblings, Charles Deneen and Kathleen Perry. Surviving are 3 daughters, Susan (Bob) Kiser of Kalamazoo, Marianne (David) Iott of Milford, MI, Betsy (Joe) Holt of Las Vegas, NV; 6 grandchildren, Barrie (Brian) Brown and Lindsey Kiser, Jack and Allison Iott, Adam and Dana Collins, several nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be recited Thursday, Aug. 28, 10:15 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Alan Jorgensen celebrant. Interment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Paw Paw. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society, Paw Paw.
