Joan M. Bowser

Joan Bowser, age 98, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, January 16, 2014 at Bronson Commons in Mattawan. She was born July 5, 1915 in South Bend, the daughter of Clement and Elizabeth (Harringer) Hauger. Joan was known as Grandma Bowser to everyone, and she had a great love for flowers and birds. Joan's hobbies were knitting, crocheting, a love for reading and we can't forget her cheesecake.
On January 18, 1935 in Indiana, Joan was united in marriage to Cecil Bowser who preceded her in death. She is survived by two children, Nancy (Lew) Meyers and Judy (David) Combs both of Paw Paw; a sister, Polly Savadori and a brother Clem Hauger both of Indiana; 11 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James Bowser, two sisters, Gerry Hauger and Dorothy Artusi and granddaughter, Lori Ann.
Family will receive friends Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at 12 noon at the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw, Rev. Richard Cushnie officiating. Burial will follow at Hill Cemetery, Lawrence. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
