Jessica Rae Silber (August 12, 1979 – March 4, 2020) was born in Santa Rosa, California and grew up in Paw Paw, Michigan. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from MSU and tenaciously pursued her desire to be a healer by earning a Master of Science degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine and Acupuncture from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in Chicago. She became a National Board Certified and Licensed Acupuncturist and owned a practice in Kalamazoo. Jess was a healing presence for many and was passionate about bringing new life into the world, nurturing moms and babies and supporting those around her on their physical and spiritual journeys.
Jess ran cross country in high school and was a devoted lifelong runner and soccer player. She loved playing piano and being a wildlife rehabilitator at Kalamazoo Nature Center. She passionately supported the empowerment of women.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 10, from 4-8 p.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave., Paw Paw and Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 120 Pine Street, Paw Paw followed by a celebration of Life at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tiffany Mc Cafferty officiating. Memorial donations may be made to International Rescue Committee, Planned Parenthood or Kalamazoo Nature Center.
Jessica is survived by mother Randy (Silber) Thorburn, father Dean Silber, stepfather Andy Thorburn, brothers Jody Silber and Tyler Silber, sister Sarah Madeiros, her precious son Nolan Gabriel Smith, life partner Tyler Burns and his son Elliot, aunts and uncles Kathy (Joe) Ossmann of Paw Paw, Michael (Diana) Byrne of Lawton, and Sherry (Ken) Jordan of Paw Paw, cousins David (Michele) Ossmann, Mike Ossmann, Jason (Joy) Byrne, Ryan Byrne, Erin (Rob) Augustine and Evan (Erika) Jordan and five nieces and nephews.
