Jerry James-Earl McCormick, age 43 passed away unexpectedly Tuesday night, December 12, 2017 at his home. Jerry was born October 14, 1974 in Kalamazoo, MI the son of the late Jerry and Toni Hunt. He was united in marriage to the former Manuela Villanueva on July 4, 1997 in Mexico. After graduation Jerry went on to college and gained his Bachelor’s Degree in teaching. He taught at the ISD in Lawrence for 10 years and then went on to Decatur where he taught Spanish for 6 years. Jerry never thought of teaching as a job. He loved children and enjoyed working with his students and his students loved him as well. Jerry enjoyed brewing beer, camping with the family, ice fishing and being up north. He had a very large vinyl record collection; he really enjoyed his music. Jerry was owner and president of Hop To It Homebrew Club. He was a real jokester; he could make anyone smile. Jerry will be dearly missed. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 20 years; Manuela, children; Alejandra and Jerry, mother; Toni (Russ) Hunt, siblings; Rhonda (Nate) Lipscomb, Tim (Jennee) McCormick and Jonathon McCormick and several nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his father, Jerry.
Funeral mass will take place Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 11;00 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, Paw Paw, with Father Joseph Xavier to officiate. Visitation will take place Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 5:30 – 8:00PM at Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave, Paw Paw, with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM. Those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider in lieu of flowers, memorials to the McCormick family, In care of Manuela McCormick.
