Jerry Winslow Coombs, age 80, of Lawton, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2017 at his home with his family after a long illness. He was born July 28, 1936 in Mendon, MI, to the late Robert Wendall Sr., and Jessie Leone (Jackson) Coombs. He is survived by his wife, Sandra (Williams), five children, Rhonda (Delbert) Aldrich, Diana (Ronald) Pueblo, Lisa (Terry) Weldon, Jerry Dale Coombs, Joyanna (John Everhardus) Coombs, six grandchildren, James Grubius, Jack Everhardus, Corey Wayne Fitzpatrick, Danielle Hartman, Justin Pueblo, Randall Aldrich, three sisters, Gloria Joanne (Louis) Barkovich, Jessie Coombs, Elizabeth Ann (John) Ruhman, two brothers, Grant Wesley (late Marge) Coombs and Walter Wheeler (Joanne) Coombs II, two sister-in-laws, Lucy (late Vern) Coombs and Anne (late Clarence) Coombs, along with many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by granddaughter Amanda, brother, Robert Wendall Coombs, Jr., Clarence Walter Coombs, Sr., David Warren Coombs, Vern William Coombs, Sr., and sister, Stella Marie Coombs. Jerry retired from James River Paper Company in Parchment. He was an avid deer hunter, loved softball, bowling, often keeping the scores. He participated in the Senior Olympics. Jerry was a loving husband and father, he was the “life”of the party and was always willing to help anyone. He was dedicated to his family and will be dearly missed by all. Family and friends will visit on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 beginning at 12:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home, 502 West Michigan Ave, Paw Paw, where a funeral service will commence at 1:00p.m. A luncheon will follow at the funeral home.
