Jerry Wayne Berry, 71, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 1, 1944 in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the eldest son of J.E. and Lorraine (Sumner) Berry, both of whom have preceded him in death. Jerry served in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserve from 1967-1971, serving aboard the USS Wiltsie, and received the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal for his service to our nation. Enjoying using his hands, following 40 years of service at Whirlpool Corporation, Jerry spent much of his retirement in his workshop. Jerry is survived by his wife of 17 years, Patricia (Huff) as well as his children: Jason (Joanna) Berry of South Haven, MI and Amy Berry of Hartselle, AL. Granddaughter: Carolyn Berry of South Haven, MI. Step-Children: Kristin (Pete Lozada) Gordon of Sister Lakes, MI; Ken Berry of Minneapolis, MN and Tammy Berry of Stevensville, MI. Step-Grandchildren: Bethany (Michael) Roberts of Decatur, MI; Heather Montgomery and Haleigh Gordon-Lozada of Sister Lakes, MI; Samantha and Alex Berry of Kalkaska, MI and Tori Berry and Brooklyn Goodrich of Stevensville, MI. Step-Great-Grandchild: Kimberly Roberts of Decatur, MI. Jerry is also survived by sisters: Barbara (Charles) Jones of Horseshoe Bend, AR; Sheila (Joseph) Smith of Coloma, MI and brother, Mark Berry of Birmingham, AL; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his brothers, John Michael Berry and Kenneth Berry and Step-Daughter, Kimberly Gordon. Following his wishes, cremation has taken place. Donations may be made in his name to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
