Paw Paw
Jim passed away, Sunday evening, June 9, 2013 at his home. He was born April 28, 1920 in Chicago, IL the son of the late Fred W. and Christina (Rath) Miller. On October 17, 1942 in Paw Paw, Jim was united in marriage to Julia M. Graham who survives. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Marine Corp. Jim farmed for many years and was then employed as a Service Manager for the Reed and Hayes Buick Dealership in Paw Paw retiring in 1977. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Paw Paw, Knights of Columbus Council #3798, Paw Paw and the American Legion, McGowan-Johnson Post #68, Paw Paw. Jim was an avid Detroit Tigers fan and collected baseball cards. He enjoyed watching boxing, growing roses and was the "go to mechanic." Most important to Jim was his family. Lyrics he lived by from Frank Sinatra, "I Did it My Way." Surviving are a son, James C. Miller, Jr. of Lawton; 2 daughters, Jackie C. (Steve) Burnham of Plainwell, and Judy L. Wiley of Lawrence; three grandchildren, Trapper (Lisa) Hallam, Zachary Burnham and Alexis Burnham; three great grandchildren, Maddie, Ava, and Treysen Hallam; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean A. Hallam; two brothers and eight sisters. There will be no visitation. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, (June 15) 12 noon at St. Mary 's Catholic Church, Paw Paw with Rev. Fr. Joseph Xavier officiating. A luncheon will follow the memorial service. Interment with full military honors was held at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association. Arrangements are by the Adams Funeral Home, Paw Paw.
