Jim “Ace” Hackenberg of Lawton, Age 62, passed away Thursday evening, September 22, 2016 at Bronson Methodist Hospital, Kalamazoo. Ace was born September 3, 1954 in Paw Paw, the son of Russell and Loretta “Lassie” (Laskovy) Hackenberg. He was a 1972 graduate of Lawton High School and enjoyed playing sports. His hobbies included playing softball, bowling, hunting, golfing, collecting comic books, and camping at Covert Park. Surviving are his mother, Loretta "Lassie" of Hackenberg; brother, John (Cindy) Hackenberg; two sisters, Jackie McDowell and Mary (Steven) Hackenberg Nix all of Lawton; nieces and nephews, P.J. (Maki) Chmiel, Amanda (Ben) Hackenberg-Hoger, Johnny (Ashley) Hackenberg, Miranda McDowell and Jake McDowell; his fiancée, Kristen Dunn and many cousins. Ace was preceded in death by his father, Russ Hackenberg Nov. 17, 2009; brother, Jerry Hackenberg April 11, 1986. A memorial mass will be held Saturday, October 15th, 3 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Paw Paw. Interment will following in Oak Grove Cemetery, Lawton.
